So when Dundee Candle Works contacted me to review some of their candles and give away a prize to my readers I could hardly say no.
So who are Dundee Candle Works?
Dundee Candle Works are a small company based in Scotland that produces high-quality coconut wax candles and diffusers. The coconut wax they use is sustainable and the candles are made in small batches to get the freshest fragrances possible.
Why make these candles with coconut wax you may ask? Coconut wax is derived from the fruit of the coconut palm, a renewable and eco-conscious alternative to traditional waxes such as soy wax which is connected to Amazon deforestation and paraffin wax which is connected to the petrochemical industry.
The candles and diffusers are vegan and use natural fragrances, whilst the packaging is 100% biodegradable, which is great to see.
I was sent three candles to try - Whisky Marmalade, Earl Grey and Verbena and Jute and Tobacco.
When they arrived they were nicely packaged as each candle comes in a jute fibre bag which is 100% natural.
Candles
Whisky Marmalade
The whisky marmalade candle has notes of orange, mandarin, and bergamot, as well as sensual patchouli, sandalwood, and vetiver. It finishes with base notes of dark amber and musk.
The candle smelt to me like a whisky cocktail. It had hints of spices and oranges and smelt warm, sweet and spicy.
Earl Grey and Verbena
The Earl Grey and Verbena candle has notes of bergamot, orange, lemon and cedar with base notes of oud.
This candle has an unique smell of Earl Grey and the flora verbena fragrance. The combination of these fragrances to make a fresh-scented candle.
Jute and Tobacco
The Jute and Tobacco candle has top notes of bergamot and magnolia, and middle notes of heliotrope, jasmine and plum. The base note of patchouli, myrrh, tonka bean and vanilla is calming and comforting.
I found this candle transported me back to my childhood with the woody smell of Bensons and Hedges cigarettes and the honeyed smell of flowers in bloom.
All the candles I were sent retail at £18 each for 180ml and burn for approximately 45 hours. The fragrances are warm and fresh and don't overpower the room, instead leaving a scent that lingers gently. It is fabulous knowing that the scents and the candles themselves are all natural and are kind to the environment. So two thumbs up to me for Dundee Candle Works!
Today on my blog I am giving you the chance to win a coconut wax trio of three 180ml marmalade candles. These candles consist of 1 x 180ml Marmalade & Lime candle, 1 x 180ml Whisky Marmalade candle & 1 x 180ml Marmalade Gingerbread candle. Retailing at £50 this is a great prize for all you candle lovers everywhere.
