5 Of The Best Luxury Holiday Destinations In Europe

You don't have to travel worldwide to find some of the best luxury holiday destinations. You may not realise but some of the best are in Europe. Here is my pick of the best luxury holiday destinations in Europe. Let me know if you have been to any of these resorts.

St Tropez, The French Riveria

St Tropez, in the French Riveria,  has a reputation as one of the most high-end destinations in France, but did you know it was originally a small fishing village? Since its humble beginnings, it has grown into a destination known since the 1960s as a playground for the international 'jet set' of actors, singers and creative people. Walk along the sandy beaches, eat and drink at the elegant bistros and swim and pose at the cool beach clubs. St Tropez is the place to see and be seen.

Monte Carlo, Monaco

Monte Carlo, the capital of Monaco is known for the iconic Monte Carlo casino, the luxury yachts in the marina, its picturesque old town on a hill and one of the most famous Formula 1 Grand Prix races in the world. It's also home to several Formula One racing drivers so you never know if you will spot one. Of course, with all the wealth, it has five-star hotels and gourmet restaurants too. It's the perfect short break destination.

Capri, Italy

Capri, an island in the Bay of Naples, is a famous luxury destination in Italy. Accessible only by ferry, yacht or helicopter it's a destination for celebrities who love the dramatic coastline. Take a boat around the island or to the Blue Grotto, go designer shopping at Via Camerelle and people-watch at Piazza Umberto 1. If you are more adventurous take the chair lift to Monte Solaro, the highest point on the island for incredible views. Of course, don't forget to try some of the delicious Italian cuisine and a glass of wine in one of the local restaurants.

Marbella, Spain

Marbella in Spain's Costa Del Sol is in a natural setting surrounded by the Sierra Blanca mountains and has a lovely old town. It has many expensive and luxury hotels, high-end restaurants and posh clubs where celebs and wanna-be celebs hang out. It is also known for the Puerto Banús marina filled with luxury yachts, designer boutiques and chic bars. 

Zermatt, Switzerland

Zermatt is a mountain resort in Switzerland known for its skiing and hiking. At the base of the Matterhorn mountain range, Zermatt is full of luxury chalets and spa hotels. The town has plenty of boutique shops too where you can buy expensive watches, jewellery and fashionable clothes. and not just a Toblerone! Spot the celebrities in the posh restaurants - Brad Pitt, Phil Collins and Elton John have all been spotted in Zermatt.
