My Mum was widowed when she was young, and with a young family. Youngest had just recently started school. She had had a love of children, and concern for others from a young age :- I believe family philosophy, religion and / or culture was responsible for that philosophy. It made our lives more bearable, having happy social times whether it be at cinema, at home over a meal etc our friends and Mum's friends were always welcome. A true sense of Community. Would love that to be the way today, unfortunately too much change, closure of industries, businesses etc has meant some have moved due to seeking employment. Naturally we grow older and lose some people through death, but again that can be more bearable with family and friends nearby. Let's hope that people are once again valued for what they can give their family, friends and Community :- Genuine Caring, Support, a Sense of Security / Stability etc.

I can recall my Mum taking me to choose a Christmas present for myself ( from Mum) one Christmas Eve. We both love shopping. I chose a Beautiful doll sitting on a high backed chair, which was a musical jewellery box. I treasured the gift for years. I will treasure the memory forever.

When I am sad my Mum always knows the right thing to say. The saying Mum knows best is definitely right.

There are many times when I've felt things are hopeless, then a Mum hug comes along and fixes everything. On the other hand, there was the time she made me cry laughing when she thought that: A) The Pied Piper was real and B) He ended the plague by taking all the rats out of London!

My Mum taught me to ride a bike even though as child she never had one and can still to this day not ride a bike herself. I love how even though it was something she could not do herself she made sure as a child that I would not miss out on an important part of growing up :)

I find myself turning into my mum, saying things like 'Because I said so' but it came back to bite me when I said to my son, "I want you to tidy those toys up" and he replied, "I want doesn't get!" Boom.

My Mum was so funny, shes started getting more familiar with the internet and gadgets so she asked for a fitbit for her birthday as she wants to be healthier. She said it will help her to not eat sweets and crisps and things and she started talking about it will be good to keep track of what she eats. I looked a bit puzzled and asked her what she meant, she thought that when you ate something the fitbit automatically detected it and counted the calories, I couldnt stop laughing.

I once accidentally gave my daughter a bill payment card to take to school thinking it was her payment card for camp. She brought it back at the end of the day saying the teacher said that she had better quickly give it back to mum. Very embarrassed for several weeks after.

My "mum moment" is when my (very unsporty) 8 year old came home with the "player of the day" trophy from his dodge ball after-school club... for the second time. Made me so happy to see him beaming with pride at his accomplishment.

My Mum is a superstar!
When I moved house with my autistic son, my Mum did not hesitate moving to a new area to be with me so she could support both my son and i.
She left her home of 40 plus years, her friends and her neighbours to support us.
I will never be able to repay her but it touches my heart everytime I think what she sacrificed for us xx

All my life my mam has been there for me loved me and was kind and generous.She is now 89 and not at all well. Mam I will promise not to use me teeth to break off sellotape from now on even though so far through the years I have taken no notice.

My favourite "Mum moment" with my Mum has been seeing the joy in her face each time she held my two sons just after they were born. She is an AMAZING Grannie and my boys and I are so blessed to have her in our lives!

My youngest has ADHD & autism, he makes me proud every day as he battles through life. He has surpassed my expectations in so many ways, after being told he needed to attend an autistic school I fought to keep him in mainstream where he now has a 1 to 1, he's in top stream in comprehensive, but does keep the staff on their toes when he's having an off day and is acting the clown!

I remember my mum trying to make my favourite icecream, pistacho nut flavour because they stopped selling it in the shops.

I loved doing fancy dress outfits for my son when he was young but now he occasionally has to do them for work - and it's me who gets the job & I usually go around all the charity shops looking for outfits. I love it though!

I used to sit on my mum's legs/knees and she'd bounce me up and down, until she knocked my front tooth out as a child! It hurt at the time and my mum found it hard to forgive herself but now we laugh about it - good job it was only a baby tooth!

When I was a teenager I was due to go on my first holiday with a friend without my parents. My friend pulled out at the last minute so Mum came with me, we had the best time ever!

My proudest mum moment was when my eldest son flew to Glasgow by himself to help my mother in law come down to us for a visit.

I never thought i'd be in her shoes but i was when my brother was killed 4 years ago and i've had to watch my beautiful, strong mum.... become a shadow of her former self, i've done all i can to support her but i know it will never been enough but she knows that i love her with all my heart and would do anything to take her pain away.

I'm an older mum who works full time. Atll the other mummies at my daughter's school are younger, very glamourous and don't work. I was very touched when my daughter said to me 'You are the bestest mummy and I love you just the way you are, even when I have to go to after school club every night'

Well the other day my Mum was very busy with work and didn't have the time to cook her or my father a meal. As a new Mum myself and currently on maternity ;eave I offered to cook a lasagne for everybody for which she was extremely grateful. My Mum is a vegetarian and so I needed a single dish so that I could cook hers separately which I didn't have, so I took one from her kitchen cupboard. Later that day i took the lasagne's over to her house and she was in hysterics. When she was able to speak again she pointed out that I had actualy cooked her lasagne in her wall ornament...... not an oven dish. Oops :) Tasted lovely though haha

My mum is always there for me, hubby had very bad norovirus when I was due to come home with my first child and my mum travelled 100 miles to help me out the first night (with a cracked rib!) I would have been lost without her.

One of my favourite moments with my mum is when she and my Nanna used to take me and my siblings to Bridlington for the day every Summer when we were little. We used to make a packed lunch, get on the train together, sit in the same corner on the beach, play, scream, build, splash, buy those small cans of pop from Woolworths and play in the play area for an hour while they went for a walk. It will always be one of my fondest memories.

My mum is literally my best friend. We had years living 200 miles apart when I moved away to "find myself", Only to meet a violent and abusive man who made my life hell. My mum has supported me constantly and helped me to get back home with my gorgeous children, we live 8 doors apart now! We share a car, go shopping together and speak/see eachother every day. Especially as she was alone from finding out she was pregnant. I am lucky and have a supportive partner but she has no one and I honestly don't know how she coped by herself. Being a new Mum to twin girls was both amazing and really hard work. Two lots of hungry crying babies, double the sleepless nights, double everything really. But I wouldn't change it for the world as they are my ICSI(Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection) miracles and I love them more than word can say.

My proudest mum moment was when my eldest daughter met her brand new baby sister for the first time. She was born with a cleft lip and palate and while she was and still is the most beautiful baby in the whole wide world, we were worried at not quite 5 it would be a bit scary for her big sister.

My mum is the best! I may not have lived in a house that was brand new and well decorated, but we instead went on amazing holidays which means amazing memories with my parents. I'm grateful for that.

My mum has held our family together since my dad's stroke in December. 10 long weeks and dad is now home but life continues to be a struggle for mum. Mum takes each day as it comes and is managing to cope wth dad very well! She is a real super star !

My mum has been a superstar following dad's stroke 11 weeks ago. Dad is now home and mum is looking after dad at home. Each day is a challenge but mum takes it in her stride!
I can relate to your comments about your son/ my daughter struggles st school but we believe in her and focus on what she can do rather than what she can't do

When I searched everywhere for my little boy's shoes only to find he'd put them in the fridge because his feet were hot.

My Mum is very spiritual and always puts others first

My mum used to try and embarrass me by doing a funny walk when we walked down the street. She'd throw her legs up to do funny walks when people went by. I really was embarrassed at the time, but looking back it was very funny.
